The goal of the admission process at Ascension is to attempt to ensure that we are able to service the needs of all students and provide each student with the best education possible. For this reason, all students applying for admission to Ascension Catholic School must go through the admissions process.
Fill out the admission form,
Provide 2 years of report cards (or the latest report card for rising first graders), which should indicate promotion or retention
Provide 2 years of test scores
Provide any IEP or 504 plan the student may have
Provide any other paperwork related to social development (if appropriate).
This file then goes to the admissions committee, who looks at the needs of the student and the resources available to students in that grade to determine if Ascension can meet those needs. The committee then decides if the student will be admitted.
As openings become available, the following criteria will be used to accept students to Ascension Catholic School:
currently enrolled students
siblings of Catholic enrolled students
staff member’s children
registered supporting* parish members
siblings of non-Catholic enrolled children
registered members of other Catholic parishes
**others
*Supporting means a registered parish member who attends Mass regularly and is involved in the parish stewardship program of time, talent, and treasure. Treasure means the regular use of envelopes (identifiable contribution).
**Students with special needs, will be accepted following the guidelines above IF there are resources available in the needed support programs.
School admission policies are determined by the pastor and school principal in consultation of the local school board and in accordance with Diocesan Policy. Students who transfer from home schooling must provide evidence of academic achievement. If the student cannot provide adequate evidence, the school shall administer appropriate testing to determine grade level assignment.
Pre-Kindergarten applications are accepted based on classroom availability. We currently have one classroom for PK3 and two classrooms for VPK. Each classroom has one teacher and one teaching assistant. Please call the school office to inquire about classroom availability or schedule a tour.
