Students at Ascension have many opportunities to learn and grow. While their academic development is of paramount importance, the focus is on developing the whole person. Ascension students are immersed in an academic environment of excellence that challenges students to be creative and critical thinkers, who integrate faith, moral leadership, and compassionate service in order to create a more just and humane world. Our commitment and practice of instilling a heightened sense of social justice, personal responsibility, and respect for others is unique, as is our focus on the spiritual, intellectual, physical, creative, social, psychological, and emotional formation of all students.
Ascension students can choose from a variety of extracurricular activities. Team sports (see Athletics) are offered to students beginning in kindergarten. Students can join in the student service council, chess club, drama club, or Lego robotic team, just to name a few (see clubs and activities). The bell choir, band and an assortment of choirs are available for Ascension students who wish to explore their musical talents (see Music). An excellent art program is in place and lessons are designed to stimulate creative and critical thinking (see Art).
